"Expeditions help in training the power to overcome and should hold a place of honour in school timetables."

Founded in 2015, the Adventure Society aims to address this.
Consisting of passionate teachers and experienced former military personnel, the organisation specialises in taking children on immersive character-building expeditions to the wilder corners of the British Isles and further afield!
Our wealth of experience in and out of the classroom has led us to believe that children best develop self-confidence, autonomy and good character when appropriately challenged in the natural environment.
Unlike other outfits, we are all fully qualified and active teachers as well as experienced expedition leaders and pride ourselves on delivering unrivalled learning experiences in an adventurous setting. Some of our expeditions are accredited with the John Muir Award and others are appropriate for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
We run small group expeditions for both schools and collections of individuals. Our trips are carefully tailored to suit the ages, goals and capabilities of each group.
Small groups enable each young person to play a greater role in each expedition, take on leadership tasks and develop navigation, life and survival skills.
We are constantly expanding our range of expeditions and currently operate the following several times each year:
- The Rùm Ranger: a wildlife conservation trip to the Hebrides
- The Highland Hike: a character-building trek along the Great Glen
- The History Hike: hiking, camping and archaeology in Northumberland
- Coasts and Castles: a camping, history and wildlife trip to the Farne Islands
- Cairngorm Explorer: a winter hillwalking expedition to the Cairngorms National Park
One of the pillars of our expeditions is sustainability. We aim to subtly introduce the young people in our care to the unrivalled adventures which can be had in the UK.
